SKKI TRIKKE - FAKRO Cup 2008

Trikke Poland hosted in association with “Fakro” the 2nd Trikke Skki World Championships.

Trikke SKKI riders

The race weekend took place in the little village of Muszyna in the south-east of Poland. The race was held in the village of Krynicka on the slopes of  Jaworzyna. The weekend started on Thursday and the first rides where on Friday. Friday morning the novice riders had their first lessons and all fell in love with this new riding platform. The Trikke Skki made them feel secure and in control. So most of them signed in to also compete with the experienced riders on Saturday.

The experienced Trikke Skki racers spent their morning on the “Trikke Skki Track” in the forests around Muszyna. In these woods the Fakro company has created a downhill track, that is similar to the boarder- or ski-cross know already from the Winter Olympics 2006. This track in Poland is however natural, with sharp turns, jumps, s-curves and a lot possibilities to take over. Racing so close together felt like racing in the touring car championships and this tracks has opened our eyes for a perfect future racing discipline on the Skki!

Resarch into the health benefits of riding a 3 point carving vehicle

As we all know, riding a 3CV is a lot of fun, it’s addictive and it’s a full body work out. But, so far we missed hard figures concerning muscle and energy usage. Do you lose weight or do you tone your body? Is it just good for your health to get you in shape or is there more?In addition to that: how fast can you learn riding a 3CV before you can have your fitness ride?
To get answers to these questions, the Universities of The Hague and Amsterdam have, on request of Trikke Europe, done an extended research.

According to the results of the research on health benefits and energy usage of riding a 3CV we can say that:
  • When riding a 3CV, you use almost all your muscles, however these muscle groups are especially in use: Upper leg muscles, Buttock muscles, Upper arm muscles and Shoulder muscles
  • So you can train these muscles and thereby toning your body.
  • When riding 15 km/h on a 3CV, an average person burns 500 Kcal per hour. When riding at 17,5km/h an average person burns up to 700 kcal per hour.
  • It’s very easy to learn how to ride a 3CV; everybody can propel and ride a 3CV. To master 3CV riding you need 2 hour practice.
  • The researchers furthermore believe that the 3CV can play a big role in the fight against obesities under children and adults worldwide.

3CV WSF MARKET RESEARCH

The past half year, three students have done an intensive research for the 3CV World Sports Federation. The research question was very simple: what does the 3CV WSF need to do, to make the 3CV sport grow? The answer, however, was hard to find.

The main advice for the 3CV WSF is that they need to focus more on the recreational side of the sport, so less focus on the competition side. Around 62% of the current 3CV riders, ride for recreation or health and only 7% ride for competition. This means that the 3CV WSF has a great challenge to ‘serve’ a huge market of riders in the coming years.

The board of the 3CV WSF has received this advice with open arms and we will change the direction towards the recreational side; by stimulating and promoting group and recreational rides. Furthermore we will change the website into a portal. This portal will function as a virtual 3CV Clubhouse. A clubhouse where 3CV riders can find riding and maintenance tips, training programs, speed and time records etc. With this portal, the 3CV community can grow globally. The portal will be easy to maintain, so that international news can be posted instantly. Next to the website change, the 3CV WSF will promote and stimulate local fun, recreational and sports activities, such as group-tours.

The website will show all small and big activities in the “3CV World”. This will stimulate riders to spent more time riding individually and together. Another interesting fact from the survey is the ambition of almost all riders to participate in group-tours. They all want to learn how to improve their carving skills by riding together. 3CV WSF can definitely create a fun and exiting sport package around this need. This will start by changing our view from races towards recreation.

Korea 3CV Championship, 2005

On September 4, 2005, 3CV Korea Sports Federation (3CV KSF) held a Korea 3CV tournament on Jamsil Olympic Park in Seoul, Korea. This tournament was organized in collaboration with the local Trikke-clubs and Trikkeko. This tournament was the 3rd competition in a row since the first competition in 2003. A total 50 competitors competed to be this the Korean 3CV Champion 2005.
At any rate, there were much passion, fun and fierce competition in the tournament. Especially the participation of Gildo Beleski in the contest, the inventor of the 3CV, made the tournament more significant to Korean 3CV racer. Many middle and small enterprises sponsored this tournament by means of prizes.
The tournament included sprint races for men, women and children, a 70 meter dual slalom for men, women and children and a group relay race. In case of the sprints, 4 participants in each team competed with one another. Only the first two could take part in next tournament (semi final). In the sprint races, men had to ride 1,300m for preliminary and 2,000m for the finals, women rode 800m for preliminary and 1200m for the final contest and children rode 400m for both preliminary and finals.
